Lead is considered as one of the most stable metal. Lead is a very heavy element and also known as Plumbum. Galena (PbS) or Lead Sulphide is the main source or most Lead Ore. Naturally Lead is in form of isotopes which may be radioactive and stable. Pb 204, Pb 206, Pb 207 and Pb 208 are stable isotopes. Pure Lead is obtained by smelting and roasting process removing Sulphur, Copper, Zink, Silver, Gold and Tin and by reducing the litharge with carbon.

Pure Lead is an ideal bullet material. Pure Lead is used in batteries for long reliable service in extreme environments. Lead is very soft, ductile, and highly malleable and it is a poor electricity conductor. Common applications of Lead include batteries, solders, plumbing, ammunition, bearings, radiation shielding and sound and vibration absorption.
